YES! And while most people have been complaining that the cab is the same, that isn't a bad thing, since that means it probably hasn't grown!

No center differential = no care.

man alive why would anyone complain about the cab not changing, cabs changing to ever smaller windows is high on my top 10 list of things I hate about new cars list. That its not changed is an ultrawin.

I like it. its pretty in all the ways that matter to me:

You can see out of it

The angles look good

The doors open nice and big.

What I mean is, it amazes me how many trucks Toyota continues to sell where you can't get a proper center diff. It's standard on the Sequoia, Land Cruiser, and 4Runner Limited. But the Tacoma, Tundra, and all non-Limited 4Runner trims are all part-time 4wd only.

Pretty much every other pickup or trucky SUV has a center diff nowadays.

Look at the way the headlights don't even fit right. Then there's the plastic chin spliter to destroy off road. And it's ugly from every angle.

Rumor is that the Tacoma is getting a limited trim (my guess is that what all the pictures are) which might get the transfer case from the 4runner limited.

Even if Toyota put a 200 horse V6 and 4-speed in it, people would buy it in droves. At least it is in fact mechanically updated and Toyota didn't just go with that fact.

As long as the light are bright and the splitter doesn't try to reattach itself...im good.

So was my girlfriend's Camry, and it was a pretty good car, for a car made in '98.

If they pair a V6 and a manual its bad news to me, as a GM truck liking person.

It's a Toyota, there has to be one thing to complain about because it hasn't changed.

Hmm. I know it's cheaper to just have a locking transfer case, and sure you don't really need a center diff for crawling rocks and such. But I'd say the majority of people use 4wd for on-road foul weather driving, and for that, a locking transfer case with no center diff kinda sucks at doing simple things like pulling into a parking space.

I just get irked at all the various trucks and SUVs out there that cheaped out on offering a center diff when it's been standard on the most basic of Jeeps for a looong time. Which, well that's kinda why I've had a couple Jeeps now.

Yep. I recently upgraded from a Jeep with only a locking transfer case, to a truck with an "auto" 4wd mode in addition to the locking mode. It's an "on-demand" system, so doesn't send power to the front until the rear slips, but you can use it in any conditions.

After driving in the snow the first time, I won't go back. It works when you need it, doesn't make turning difficult, and you don't have to worry about switching back and forth. I don't see why Toyota can't just license an existing one to use in their trucks.

I suspect that this is going to be a new "limited" trim, with moar chrome. I bet the SR5/TRD will look much better.

The bumper looks like a face and the grooves on the lower part of the bumper make it look like someone with a really dry mouth, or something.

If I could get a crew cab, in dark green, put appropriately rugged wheels on it it would be like the modern Jeep Commanche I'll never build whilst being approachable to women and family members

It's not a matter of licensing. Toyota has a center differential in some but not all of their trucks. It's standard on the Sequoia, Land Cruiser and 4Runner Limited.

It used to be standard on all 4Runner trims from '01-'09. But they cheaped out on the 5th gen 4Runner and only have full-time 4wd on the Limited.
